What to include on a business card

The first thing to remember is to keep it simple; business cards are only 85mm x 55mm, so that is a small area for you to include all the information you want people to see. We would always advise having a double sided business card due to the fact looks more professional and means you have more space to play with. Even if the reverse of your card is just your company logo or colour, it will look better than having a plain white back.

The following five elements are all basics that you should include on your business card. Once these are pinned down, you can then play about with space, add more or take away anything you deem unnecessary.

Company Logo - Your logo is an extension of yourself, your company and your brand. People need to know who you represent, so you want your card to be instantly recognisable. Therefore your logo should be a main feature.

Your Details - Your name and job details should be in a prime and clear position. Consider the font you are using too, it needs to be easily read.

Contact Details - Don't overdo it with contact details. Your email address and one contact number should be enough. You could also add the company name and website if you have one.

Social Accounts - Do you have a Twitter or Facebook company account? Are you active on LinkedIn, Pinterest or Instagram? Make sure you include the icons relevant to your business.

Design and Finish - Be brave! Use colour and really make your card stand out. Although the information you include is going to be pretty generic, your design doesn't have to be. You could include special finishes like spot UV or foiling...there is so many possibilities!
