A day in the life of
As the Operations Assistant at Visual Print & Design, my role is varied from one day to the next, which makes for an interesting week. Typically, the day always starts with a brew and the daily production meeting. We’ll talk through all the jobs we have booked in and update the team with their progress.
In my role, I am mainly customer facing taking care of enquiries by email and any phone calls. I’m still relatively new to the team so I’m still learning something new every day.
My day really depends on my inbox, I could be running up estimates, booking jobs in and sending artwork over to production and then proofs back over to clients. I provide advice, and regular updates on jobs to clients so they know their print is taken care of.
I help out with production when needed, and am also the main user of our large format printer, printing banners, pull-ups, posters and window clings too! This is always a welcome break from sitting at my desk!
I love the variety that my role offers as I get to interact with customers when managing their jobs, but also get hands on when it comes to large-format. It means that each day is fast-paced and never the same. We’re a friendly and lively bunch too, so work together on new ideas which is really fun.
A tip for someone doing the same job? Mainly time management – you’ve got to be able to cope with interruptions from the phone and other incoming jobs and then be able to catch up with where you were at quite quickly so you don’t miss important deadlines. A positive attitude always helps too!
